Abstract	A note indicating receipt of payment for the balance on a slab made by Edward Hitchcock to Lewis Merriam, the administrator of the estate of Dexter Marsh. Receipt indicates that the slab had been sent to Dr. J.C. Warren. Edward Hitchcock has written "L Merriam 1854" on the verso.
Notes	The note is signed "L. Merriam." It has been inferred that this refers to Lewis Merriam. It has also been inferred that J.C. Warren refers to Dr. John Collins Warren.
