Abstract
A letter to Edward Hitchcock, Jr. in which his father discusses in great detail his anxiety about the state of his health and fear that he might not survive the return trip to the United States. Hitchcock instructs his son to seek reimbursement, if necessary, for expenses incurred by Hitchcock in his travels through Europe. Those travels, which involved visits to agricultural schools, were made at the request of the Massachusetts government and are detailed in the letter. Hitchcock is pleased to note that Hitchcock Jr.'s mother, Orra, has not been adversely affected by their travels. He also gives his son advice on how to approach his work.
