Abstract
A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Benjamin Silliman reassures Hitchcock that their relationship will not suffer as a result of Silliman's remarks on Charles Lyell. Silliman discuses the clergy and the varying opinions these clergymen hold on geology, and also asks Hitchcock about a report on fossil footprints he is writing for the American Journal of Science.
