Abstract
A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Benjamin Silliman says he is glad that Hitchcock met with Dr. Charles Daubeny. Silliman further discusses several specimens contained in marl (a type of mudstone), as well as the mineral beryl, and tells Hitchcock he does not know of any good inexpensive artist to work with Hitchcock on making engravings.
