Abstract
A sermon by Edward Hitchcock discussing the idea that serving the world and serving god are incompatible. He first defines what he means by service to God, defines what he means by service to the world, and finishes with providing reasons why it is impossible to do both. Matthew 6:25 is quoted. Hitchcock has noted the dates and locations where he delivered this sermon as well as Bible chapters and hymns related to the sermon on the first page.
