Abstract
A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Benjamin Silliman asks Hitchcock's opinion on the fee he should charge for a course taught by himself, expresses his disappointments over missing Hitchcock's lectures (and disappointment that he did not charge for them), thanks Hitchcock for his recommendation for a place to stay in Boston, and announces his receipt of Henry Samuel Boase's new work on primitive geology.
