Abstract | An account of expenses by Edward Hitchcock incurred during a portion of his geological survey of Massachusetts and owed to him by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Written on January 1, 1832, the account lists expenses incurred in 1831. Expenses listed include freight costs, stage fares, and personal expenses for Hitchcock and his assistant, among others. Hitchcock has noted at the bottom that on January 18 he received payment for most of this account from the state treasurer. |
