Abstract
A realistic account of a few days spent hiking and camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, "The Forests of Dixville" mixes interesting descriptions of the area as it looked in the 1890s with exciting stories of encounters with a panther and a black bear. The unnamed narrator is traveling with his friend Jack and a dog named Rover. The first two chapters are missing and the remaining two chapters are unsigned, so it is not clear which of the Nelson brothers wrote the story.
