Abstract
A sermon by Edward Hitchcock discussing the first chapter of Romans. He goes through the chapter verse by verse and discusses the meaning of certain lines. He lists what he believes Paul proves with this chapter, such as the idea that original sin is absolved for those who follow Christ and that Abraham and David sought salvation through faith. He also posits what can therefore be learned from the first chapter of Romans, including that heathens have the ability to find Christ and therefore have no excuse for their sinfulness. Hitchcock has noted the date and location where he delivered this sermon as well as Bible chapters and hymns related to the sermon on the last page.
