Title | Edward Hitchcock letter to the editor of the Freeman, 1859 September 17 |
Dates | 1859-09-17 |
Abstract | A manuscript copy of a letter from Edward Hitchcock to the editor of the Freeman, not in Hitchcock's hand. The letter requests corrections to a piece by Hitchcock published in the September 15, 1859 issue of the Freeman about a frozen well in Brandon, Vermont. The issue omitted a sentence giving credit to A.D. Hager (Albert D. Hager, state geologist of Vermont), and Hitchcock demands it be inserted back in and describes how Hager's theory and his own research into this theory came about. |
