| Abstract | A letter from missionary Benjamin Schneider, written upon his return from a visit to northern Syria, while performing a quarantine in Smyrna, Turkey. He writes extensively about the "Aleppo button," a skin disease that plagues the inhabitants of many towns on the banks of the Euphrates. Schneider tells Hitchcock he is sending a box with both mineral and water samples for Hitchcock to test, in an attempt to identify the cause of the disease. Schneider also writes about his mission and the happiness he feels as a result of seeing an increase in his congregation in Aintab, Syria. |
