Abstract | A letter to Orra White Hitchcock in which George Harrison Newhall requests that Orra write to Mary Lyon on the behalf of Miss Harriett Frances Lindsey, an applicant to Mount Holyoke Seminary. Lindsey would eventually attend Mount Holyoke and also become Newhall's wife. Newhall also discusses a suggestion from Edward Hitchcock that Newhall preach in Deerfield, but he writes that he would prefer to stay in Prescott. Newhall calls Orra White "Mother Hitchcock" and signs the letter "Yr aff 'son' Harrison". |
