Abstract
A letter to the editor of the Boston Recorder, Nathaniel Willis, in which Edward Hitchcock clarifies the intentions of his previous letter about a notice of John Mitchell's sermon in the Boston Recorder. Hitchcock emphasizes that he was not seeking a personal response only but felt it necessary that the Recorder respond publicly to his letter. Hitchcock feels that the Recorder's recommendation of the sermon has given those who are opposed to temperance ammunition against the cause of temperance. He notes that he may be forced to voice his views elsewhere if the Recorder will not print his letter or clarify their stance. Signed "Philo Udatos".
