Abstract
Photographs of the United States Bicentennial celebration in Pittsfield, Massachusetts including a re-enactment of the first baseball game between Amherst College and Williams College in 1859, a varsity baseball game between the two colleges, a parade, chess matches being played outside, and the dedication of a plaque on the site of the 1859 baseball game in honor of Pittsfield. John William Ward and John Wesley Chandler are among those photographed and can be seen riding in a car in the parade. These photographs are assumed to have been taken by the College Photographer for the Office of Public Affairs (now the Office of Communications). Bob Kingman was the College Photographer from January 1975-May 1978.
