Abstract
Photographs of the 172nd Commencement ceremony. Scenes include students, faculty, and honorary degree awardees in academic regalia before and during the ceremony, as well as audience members observing the event. The Commencement ceremony takes place on the steps of Robert Frost Library with seats on the Main Quadrangle (also known as the first-year quad). Other locations in the photographs include the War Memorial, from which the graduation procession appears to begin, and the Mount Holyoke Range and Memorial Field which can be viewed in some of the backgrounds. Known individuals in the photographs include Peter Pouncey who can be seen onstage speaking and awarding degrees and student Edmund M. Lee (Ted Lee) who can be seen presenting to graduates and ceremony attendees. These photographs were taken by D.T.; it has been determined that D.T. refers to Donna Taylor.
