Abstract | Eli B. Hamilton letter to James Fowler of the Massachusetts State Legislature in which Hamilton writes regarding the discussion in the legislature of the petition by the Trustees of Amherst Academy requesting the incorporation of Amherst College, also known as the Collegiate Institution of Amherst during this time. Hamilton notes that he just finished reading Mr. Kay's speech in the House on the question, stating he is much pleased with it. He writes that he wishes he could say the same of the reported speeches in the Senate which Fowler sent him. Hamilton goes on to provide his opinions on the "Amherst question." |
