Abstract
Salem Towne, an Overseer of the Charity Fund, letter to Thomas Bond, another Overseer, in which Towne begins by discussing their previous correspondence and explains why he was not able to attend Commencement in July. Towne states that he does not know if he ever heard the rule adopted by the Board of Overseers, but he approves of it. He hopes the Board will fill, without delay, the place that he has held for too long. Presumably Towne is referring to his position on the Board of Overseers. There is a note at the bottom of the page, possibly written by Bond, dated November 16, 1842 regarding Andrew W. Porter.
