Abstract
Pamphlet of a statement dated March 1, 1823 made by Zephaniah Swift Moore on behalf of the Trustees of the Collegiate Institution. The pamphlet provides background on the Charity Fund, the Guaranty Bond of fifteen thousand dollars, the Thirty Thousand Dollar Subscription, and the foundation of the Institution. Information regarding the course of study and admission qualifications of the Institution and plans for the future of obtaining subscriptions for the College is provided. The latter portion of the pamphlet pertains to the petition of the Trustees of Amherst Academy to the Massachusetts Legislature requesting charter for the Collegiate Institution and controversy over a previous proposal for the removal of Williams College from Williamstown. A postscript from Moore states that editors of newspapers who have published the result of the petition are requested to insert the above statement.
