Title | Compilation of statements in favor of granting charter to Amherst College, 1824 |
Dates | 1824 |
Abstract | A pamphlet containing two statements: "Comments on the Memorial from Williams College" and "Eleven Reasons: for Believing that Amherst College Will Be Incorporated" and also containing extracts from a "Statement of Facts." The statements are dated January 15, 1824 and January 12, 1824. Both argue in favor of granting charter to Amherst College. The first statement is signed by "Spectator" while the second is attributed to Zephaniah Swift Moore. Following these statements is a note from the "spectator" prefacing a section of extracts taken from Moore's "Statement of Facts" which was published March 1, 1823. The extracts pertain to the Charity Fund, the Thirty Thousand Dollar Subscription, and the establishment of the College. |
