Abstract
Sidney Brooks letter to his sister Tamesin Brooks in which he writes regarding his arrival in Amherst and admission to Amherst College. He notes that thus far he is getting along in Amherst easier than he did at Andover, though the studies occupy all his time. He describes Amherst and the surrounding area as well as his room in one of the college buildings. He notes that at first his room made him think of the rooms in Barnstable jail, "but this is College Style." He writes about furnishing and decorating his room and says that he does sometimes feel a touch of homesickness. Sidney asks Tamesin to write him, asks about their father, and requests that Tamesin give their brother Henry a message. In closing, he sends his love to their sister Roxana, Mr. Davis, and to "little Fred."
