Abstract | Photographs of the Springfield Amherst Summer Academy (SASA) staff and students posing together outside of the Octagon in August 1973. SASA offered an on-campus living experience and daily classes provided by Five-College tutors for around 50 black high school students from the Springfield, Massachusetts area. This year's participants were ninth and tenth graders from the Springfield Model Cities Program. These photographs are assumed to have been taken by the College Photographer for the Office of Public Affairs (now the Office of Communications). James U. Cryan Jr. was the College Photographer from October 1972-January 1975. |
