Abstract | Photographs taken June 7, 1974 of the 153rd Amherst College Commencement ceremony. Photographed are students, faculty, and honorary degree awardees in academic regalia, ceremony marshals, the Glee Club, the band, and audience members. The ceremony takes place on the steps of Robert Frost Library with audience seats on the Main Quadrangle (also known as the first-year quad). John William Ward is among those photographed. These photographs are assumed to have been taken by the College Photographer for the Office of Public Affairs (now the Office of Communications). James U. Cryan Jr. was the College Photographer from October 1972-January 1975. |
