Abstract
H.A. Homes letter to Justin Perkins in which Homes writes that he will forward him the books requested as Syriac helps. He remarks on reports of the success of Perkins' mission, but says he fears dark days. He comments on Perkins' proposition to pay certain boys who come to school, relaying that previously it was made a complaint by the Minister for Foreign Affairs there (in Constantinople) that the American missionaries were clothing and feeding boys for nothing. He comments negatively on "Mussulmans" (Muslims), discusses the prospects of his own field, and asks if Perkins believes he could declare publicly "M____ to be a false prophet and Christ our only Salvation" or would the punishment not be death. He remarks briefly on rumors of wars but said everything is comparatively tranquil now.
