Sidney Brooks essay in which he writes regarding his inferences and reflections after reading Elements of Mental Philosophy, Part 2, Section 1 by Thomas Cogswell Upham and Dugald Stewart. The last page of this item contains Brooks' writing regarding his opinions on the exercise of attention in seeing as described by Stewart in the same book. These writings are presumed to be related to Brooks' studies in intellectual and moral philosophy at Phillips Academy or Amherst College.
