Abstract
Photographs of the dedication of Robert Frost Library. Included are candid photographs of speakers and audience members before and during the dedication. Chairs are arranged in front of Frost Library and on the Main Quadrangle (also known as the first-year quad). Speakers photographed at a podium may include Calvin Hastings Plimpton, John J. McCloy, Richard P. Wilbur, and Frederick H. Wagman, all of whom were scheduled to speak at the event. Images primarily provide aerial views though some are taken at ground level from behind the podium and facing the crowd. Buildings photographed include Frost Library, Fayerweather Hall, James Hall, Stearns Hall, Charles Pratt Dormitory, Stearns Steeple, Johnson Chapel, North Hall, and four high rise dormitories under construction in the Southwest residential area of University of Massachusetts Amherst. These photographs are assumed to have been taken by the College Photographer for the Office of Public Affairs (now the Office of Communications). Jim Gerhard was the College Photographer from the mid-1960s to 1971.
