Abstract
A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Benjamin Silliman mentions that a notice of Hitchcock's discoveries was given to the Ashmolean Society at Oxford and was included in the London Atheneum. Silliman also encourages Hitchcock to ignore A. B. Chapin, James G. Percival, and his other critics, and invites him to contribute more to the American Journal of Science.
