Abstract
A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Benjamin Silliman thanks him for a specimen of the mineral beryl, and apologizes for not sending him specimens of fossil bones and marl (a type of mudstone), which he was unable to send because of work and the illness of Mrs. Silliman.
