Abstract
A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Benjamin Silliman further discusses Hitchcock's disagreement with James Deane. Silliman again apologizes for the way his remarks to the Association of American Geologists were phrased, and laments that Hitchcock did not tell him sooner that they upset him so that Silliman could have altered them prior to publication. Silliman mentions an issue between himself and Charles Lyell to make a comparison between the two conflicts.
