Abstract
A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Henry W. Soltau discusses Hitchcock's book, "The Religion of Geology and its Connected Sciences." Soltau feels he must write to Hitchcock for the sake of Hitchcock's soul and welfare, since he believe Hitchcock's theories are sacrilegious, and urges he Hitchcock to re-examine his theories and his soul. Soltau discusses Hugh Miller's suicide in depth and cites it as evidence that scientific theories like these are ungodly and dangerous.
