Abstract
A letter to Benjamin Silliman in which Edward Hitchcock explains that he does not wish to have additional remarks inserted into the American Journal of Science regarding a controversy surrounding the discovery and identification of fossil footmarks made by birds. Hitchcock additionally inquires whether Silliman would be interested in a piece analyzing wines from Syria and Palestine for the Journal. He also mentions some geological specimens he has obtained.
