Abstract
A sermon by Edward Hitchcock discussing the benevolence of God. Hitchcock discusses proof of God's benevolence in terms of reason and in terms of biblical teaching. He also argues against the idea that the existence of evil cannot be reconciled with the existence of a benevolent God. Matthew 19:17 is quoted. Hitchcock has noted the dates and locations where he delivered the sermons as well as Bible chapters and hymns related to the sermons on the first page.
