Abstract
Notes by Edward Hitchcock intended for an address to a Massachusetts agricultural society, possibly the Hampshire, Franklin, and Hampden Agricultural Society or a branch of it, in which Hitchcock stresses the importance of embracing science in agriculture. He notes that Great Britain has been able to feed their growing population as a result of advanced farming methods. He expresses several wishes for farming in the Connecticut River Valley, all while urging farmers to embrace scientific improvements in agriculture and manufacturing.
