Abstract
James M. Gordon letter to Justin Perkins in which Gordon responds to letters from Perkins and shares the news that two of his children are expecting to unite with the church. He expresses his sympathies over Deacon Joseph's death, writes of faith, notes Perkins' separation from his beloved companion, and discusses the continued high rate of exchange. He says this matter will come before the Board (American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions) in October. Gordon also writes regarding the financial condition of the country, the status of the American Civil War, and what promises to be an exciting political campaign in the North. In a postscript, he mentions the death of Miss (Fidelia) Fiske and says he is sending the notice of her prepared for the (Missionary) Herald.
