Photographs of the 145th Commencement ceremony held on June 3, 1966. Photographed are students, faculty, and honorary degree awardees in academic regalia, the ceremony marshals, and members of the audience. The ceremony takes place in the Alumni Gymnasium and Athletic Complex Quadrangle. Included are photographs of anti-Vietnam War protestors at the ceremony holding signs in promotion of peace and against Robert Strange McNamara, an honorary degree awardee at the ceremony. Also included are photographs of the retirement party held for Professor George W. Bain and other Commencement weekend events. These may include the Amherst Collegium Musicum performance, the annual alumni luncheon, and the Society of the Alumni meeting. Individuals photographed may include Calvin Hastings Plimpton, John F. Boyle, Robert McNamara, George B. Bietzel, Bruce Archibald, Samuel Perkins Hayes, Jr., Harold F. Johnson, Harrison Scott Brown, Robert Morris Morgenthau, Wright Tisdale, Walter Gelhorn, William H. Pritchard, Benjamin H. DeMott, and Paul Howard Douglas.
