Abstract
A letter to John Camden Hotten in which Walt Whitman thanks Hotten for sending him a copy of the edition of his "Poems" that Hotten is preparing, but notes that he is not pleased with the frontispiece and offers to obtain the original plate for Hotten at a cost of approximately 8 pounds. Whitman also asks Hotten to pass along his thanks to Algernon Charles Swinburne for his "William Blake: A Critical Essay," which included mention of Whitman in it. Hotten published both Swinburne's essay on Blake and Whitman's "Poems" in Great Britain in 1868. The identity of the recipient is taken from the finding aid for the collection.
