Abstract
Volume 7 Number 9 of The Ichnolite. The magazine was a student-run literary journal that ran from October 1853-June 1862. It was published on a monthly basis during the academic terms, with some exceptions. Since the inception of the magazine, there were numerous title changes: The Amherst Collegiate Magazine (October 1853-August 1857); The Ichnolite (October 1857-July 1861); and The Amherst College Magazine (September 1861-June 1862). Throughout its run, the magazine remained a literary publication with entries in a variety of forms including essays, reviews, literary sketches, short stories, letters, poetry, editorials, and notices of current college-related events. Translations, musical scores, play scripts, drawings, and humorous entries were also occasionally included in issues. The editors of Volume 7 of The Ichnolite were Nathaniel Mighill, William De Forest Prentiss, Richard Draper Douglass, James Wilson Ward, Jr., and Horace Parker. The Publishing Committee for the volume consisted of George Lincoln Goodale, Leverett Stearns Griggs, and Henry Bullard. The index to Volume 7 is included in this issue.
