Abstract
A transcription of four letters written by Emily Dickinson. The four letters begin with the lines; "Lest any bee should boast, "Trusting the happy flower," "The flower keeps it's appointment," and "I had the luxury of a mother." A penciled note in the upper right corner "Letters to Mrs. Pres. Greenough" may refer to Jeanie Ashley Bates Greenough to whom these letters may have been sent. The transcription is part of the collection of transcriptions of Dickinson's poems produced by Mabel Loomis Todd for publication in a volume edited by her. Most transcriptions are in Todd's own hand; some are typed, and some were transcribed by other individuals. A note in parenthesis at the top of the second page, possibly in the same hand as the transcribed letters, states "Written after my mother's death in October 1885." Other notes and editor's marks appear at the top of the second page. These transcriptions may relate to Emily Dickinson manuscripts in this collection (Amherst Manuscripts 1, 2, 3, and 4).
