Abstract | An unattributed typescript transcription of a letter written by Emily Dickinson. The letter begins "Dear Friend - What a reception for you!" "To Abby Farley" is written in pencil at the top of the transcript and refers to Abbie C. Farley, niece of Judge Otis Lord, to whom the original letter may have been sent. Other editor's notes, marks, and alternate wording are written in pencil on the transcript including a note that this letter was written upon the death of "Mary, the younger, who drowned in Walden Pond." |
Notes | The transcription is undated. These letters were originally published in Millicent Todd Bingham's "Emily Dickinson: A Revelation" in 1954. The date range is based on the year Emily Dickinson died and the year that Bingham published this letter. |
