Abstract
A letter to Orra White Hitchcock in which Edward Hitchcock writes about his travels in West Virginia and the route he must take to Ohio. He despairs about his poor health, about not receiving letters from home, and about the difficulties in leaving Red House, West Virginia, though he notes that he should thank God for the good things he does still have. Hitchcock continues the letter from Richmond, Ohio, on February 6 describing his journey there from Red House and speculating on when he might return home.
