Abstract
A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which John Torrey identifies some botanical specimens Hitchcock had sent him. The specimens appear to be Ranunculus and Dianthus. Torrey also talks about the mineral Spodumene, asking for a box of it and offering to send Hitchcock minerals in return.
