Abstract
Two letters to Edward Hitchcock. The first is from Benjamin Silliman, Jr., who writes to Hitchcock regarding chemicals and a number of books, primarily Justus Liebig's "Chemistry in its Applications to Agriculture and Physiology." Benjamin Silliman Sr. writes to Hitchcock about Hitchcock's new work on geology and his objections to Dr. John Pye-Smith's work. Silliman mentions some other writings as well, including one about poisons.
