Abstract
A sermon by Edward Hitchcock discussing the third and fourth chapter of Romans. Hitchcock attempts to reconcile the line in James' epistle that reads "by works a man is justified and not by faith only" and the concept in Romans that faith in God, not actions, is what earns salvation. He claims that faith in God naturally produces good works, and therefore the two ideas are not in opposition. Hitchcock has noted the date and location where he delivered this sermon on the last page.
