Abstract | Notes kept by Edward Hitchcock during a portion of his geological survey of Massachusetts, primarily dating from May 1835. The notes discuss the geology of Massachusetts and descriptions of the terrain and the rock types. Drawings related to the geology of the state are inlcluded, and expenses incurred for May 1835 and September 1834 are listed. The first section of the diary lists scripture passages related to the deluge and destruction of the world. Several Latin passages from books, some of which are crossed out, are included within this section of the diary. |
