Abstract | A letter to Lucy Douglas Fowler in which Orra White (before her marriage to Edward Hitchcock) congratulates Fowler on her marriage (to Hon. James Fowler) and includes some lines of poetry about marriage, which she claims she does at the insistence of a Mrs. Betsey Parsons. Orra also notes that she is sending Fowler a pattern of some type. Lucy Douglas and Orra White taught together at Amherst Academy before their marriages. |
