Title | Letter from unidentified correspondent letter to Edward Hitchcock, 1862? October 10 |
Dates | 1862-10-10 |
Abstract | A letter to Edward Hitchcok from a sender with an illegible signature answering Hitchcock's request for input on Hitchcock's manuscript of "Reminiscences of Amherst College." The correspondent writes that Hitchcock's uncancelled paragraphs do not injure the college in any way, and though there is no clear dissatisfaction with the current administration of the college, it may be suspected from some parts of the manuscript. He also writes that some portions of the manuscript may be better left to be later published by a biographer of Hitchcock than by Hitchcock himself, but notes that overall he finds the work to be favorable. |
Notes | The item is dated October 10. It has been assumed that this letter dates to the year prior to the publicaion of "Reminiscences of Amherst College," which was published in 1863. |
