Abstract
The Greenfield Gazette August 24, 1824 issue which includes a communication titled "The Amherst Question" in which the editors of the newspaper clarify what is acceptable to contribute to the paper regarding the debate over whether or not the Collegiate Institution should be granted charter. They also clarify that they will only dedicate two columns a week to the subject. Also included is an article titled "Amherst College-No. 1," the first in a series of articles attributed to "Massachusetensis" who argues against granting charter to the Collegiate Institution.
